Overview

Are you a skilled heavy equipment service technician looking for a rewarding career with a reputable company? Milton CAT is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Service Technician for an in-field position within our Earthmoving Division.  In this role, you will diagnose, repair, overhaul and maintain customer and company heavy equipment and components.  This is a field-based position that requires regular travel to customer locations to perform on-site diagnostics and repairs.   

 

Pay Rate: $37.03 - $43.48 an hour based on location and experience. This is a union position.

Responsibilities

  • Identify problems and causes of failure through logical troubleshooting steps.
  • Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
  • Prepare, inspect, and operate machines prior to delivery.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in tooling, technologies, and systems.
  • Prepare accurate inspections and complete service reports.
  • Adhere to all established safety protocols and standards, utilizing appropriate PPE.
  • Be flexible to work after hours when needed to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required:

 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working on Cat equipment or similar heavy equipment.
  • Strong proficiency in transmissions, engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair heavy equipment and components in the field.
  • Proficient in computer use and related software (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Solid math skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Capable of working independently in the field without supervision.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced service environment.
  • Maintain a personal tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks.
  • Must have a safe work history.
  • Ability to operate a service vehicle.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • DOT and MSHA certifications required.

Preferred Skills and Competencies

  • Associate degree in a related field.
  • Experience with CAT heavy equipment.
  • CDL Class A or B license.
